“A journey through works, performers and audiences that meet, drift apart and come together again, always from renewed perspectives — not a chronological succession of concerts: this is what I have in mind when I imagine the 2027 Season.”

With these words, Thierry Fischer introduces the 2027 season of the São Paulo Symphony Orchestra (Osesp). Its nine festivals take Nietzsche’s Thus Spoke Zarathustra as a broad horizon, not as a theme but as a question: what can be transformed in us when we truly listen?

The season brings together guest artists from different generations and traditions. Conductors include Heinz Holliger, Christoph Koncz, Oksana Lyniv, Vasily Petrenko, Marie Jacquot and Stéphane Denève, while the soloists include pianists Kirill Gerstein and Jan Lisiecki, violinist James Ehnes, cellist Alisa Weilerstein, trumpeter Pacho Flores, trombonist Jörgen van Rijen and soprano Hera Hyesang Park, among many others.

The Osesp Choir, under Principal Conductor Thomas Blunt, joins the Orchestra in nine symphonic programmes and presents its own series, while Gringo Cardia directs the staging of the opening and closing programmes.
