Thierry Fischer launched the 2026/27 season of the Orquesta Sinfónica de Castilla y León (OSCyL) in Valladolid on 1 and 2 October, in a programme pairing Haydn’s Symphony No. 1 and Oboe Concerto, with soloist François Leleux, and a selection from Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet.

The new season takes “Audacity” as its theme. Having completed his Beethoven cycle last season, Fischer turns to the origins of the symphony, with early works by Haydn, Mozart, Schubert, Mendelssohn and Schumann. Nordic, Spanish and other European repertoire runs alongside, together with programmes inspired by nature and folklore.

The season also features soloists including Alina Ibragimova, Veronika Eberle, Jean-Guihen Queyras and Javier Perianes, in concertos by Vivaldi, Schumann and Grieg. Among the contemporary highlights are the Spanish premiere of Outi Tarkiainen’s Songs of the Ice and the world premiere of Andrew Norman’s trombone concerto SLIP, with soloist Jörgen van Rijen.
