Thierry Fischer continues the operatic tradition he introduced at the Symphony Orchestra of São Paulo, presenting one opera in concert every two years – this year turning to Alban Berg’s masterpiece “Wozzeck”. Joined by an exceptional cast – Robin Adams (Wozzeck), Jason Bridges (Andres), Astrid Kessler (Marie) among others – Fischer brings the psychological intensity and raw humanity of Berg’s score to the fore.
“I am very much looking forward to conducting an opera in concert again: Alban Berg’s haunting, expressionistic opera Wozzeck,” he shares. “Performing opera teaches us to listen to and interact with each other in a very different way and makes our music-making richer and even more collaborative.
