After his appointment as new music director of the Orquesta Sinfónica de Castilla y León in July, Thierry Fischer has now started his tenure with a program featuring Haydn’s Symphony No. 96, Fazil Say’s Cello Concerto “Never give up” and Brahms Symphony No. 1 – warmly greeted by the Valladolid audience.
The newspaper “El Norte de Castilla” titles, “Thierry Fisher, a good choice” and calls him “a conductor who knows what he has in his hands and has begun to show it. The finale was greeted with a standing ovation. His beginning could not have been better.”
Thierry Fischer, who has also been music director of the São Paulo Symphony since 2020 and wraps up his tenure with the Utah Symphony after 14 years this season, will return to Valladolid in November for his next program of Berlioz and Strauss with soloist Antoine Tamestit.
