Thierry Fischer opens the 2026 season of the São Paulo Symphony Orchestra (Osesp) at Sala São Paulo with a striking program juxtaposing Bach, Stockhausen and Beethoven this week. The concerts feature Bach’s Fantasia and Fugue in C minor, BWV 537 in Villa-Lobos’ orchestral arrangement, Stockhausen’s spatial masterpiece Gruppen, and Beethoven’s monumental Symphony No. 9. The following week, Fischer continues the season with another program pairing Bach (Prelude and Fugue, BWV 546, arr. Villa-Lobos) and Strauss’ Vier Lieder, Op. 27 with Mahler’s Symphony No. 4, featuring soprano Hera Hyesang Park.
